What is Baptism?

Baptism is the sacrament that unites us with Jesus Christ and makes us members of God’s family, the Church.

Why is Baptism Important?

Baptism represents our first step on the journey of faith, and it assures us that God’s presence and love goes with us as we travel through life.

What Does Baptism Mean?

Rev. Lent often speaks about Baptism saying:  “Often in the course of human life at some point we find ourselves in a serious and deepening relationship.  Sooner or later someone has to take a risk, someone has to say, ‘I love you’ first.  It is a risk.  What if the other person says ‘Oh’ or ‘Thanks’.  Baptism is our recognition that God always says ‘I love you’ first.  In time, we have the opportunity to grow and learn and say I love you back to God, but that does not change the fact that God says I love you first”.
